Val Wai
Art Psychotherapist (Trainee)
Val is currently art therapy practitioner and final-year Master’s candidate at LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore (UAS). Her clinical experience includes working with children and adolescents with developmental needs and chronic illnesses across hospital, residential, and educational settings.
Val views art therapy as an in-between space for play and development, where creative processes become a gentle pathway for children and youths to explore emotions and experiences that may be difficult to express in words. She supports clients in developing emotional regulation, strengthening a sense of safety, and connecting more deeply with their inner worlds through embodied art-making and creative play.

Her early experiences volunteering as a teacher with children with special needs shaped her strengths-based and person-centred approach, grounded in respect for each individual’s unique way of experiencing and making sense of the world. Alongside her clinical practice in private and community settings, Val facilitates art therapy-informed workshops and continues to develop her artistic practice. Through her creative work, she hopes to cultivate greater awareness and understanding of art therapy among young people and the wider community.

Val practises under professional clinical supervision in line with her training requirements and is committed to reflective practice and ongoing learning.
